A majority of IK products can be registered using the Authorization Manager. To view the incompatible products, click here.

If your Authorization Manager is not accepting your serial number, this may be because it found a wrong character inserted to your serial.

Pease see below for the most common errors:

* Typing a 0 ("zero" number) instead of an O ("o" letter)
* Typing 1 ("one" number) instead of an I ("i" letter)
* Typing 2 ("two" number) instead of an Z ("z" letter)
* Typing 5 ("five" number) instead of an S ("s" letter)
* Typing 8 ("eight" number) instead of an B ("b" letter)
* Typing a "." (point) instead of a "-" (minus), and vice-versa, is one of the most common occurrence.

Suggestions:

* When possible, please copy and paste the information.
* Cut off all the leading and trailing spaces, these are seen as 'characters'.
* Please type all codes UPPERCASE during the installation and registration process.
* Check that the Serial Number that you are entering matches with the product installed.

The Serial Number is a unique code used to identify each IK Product and for Registration purposes. It contains a combination of eighteen digits/characters organized in 3 groups of 5, 8 and 5 units respectively.

Registering this serial number unlocks any gear associated with your product, as well as any associated warranty with your product.

Example: "ATX30-xxxxxxxx-xxxxx".

You will need the Serial Number to register your IK product via the Authorization Manager or the Product Registration page.

FAQ ID: 10

The  Serial number  for your product is written on the  Registration Card included with your product packaging, inside the license envelope. For Digital Delivery items, this serial will be found inside an email received after purchase.

For a clear characters' identification, please refer to the legend at the bottom of the card.

Note: the zero can easily be identified in your Serial Number because it is crossed by a line).

Yes, if the IK product that you are using is protected by challenge-code system (doesn't require the IK USB dongle called iKey). In this case, you can install up to 3 computers provided that they are USED ONLY BY YOU, OWNED BY YOU AND ARE NOT USED SIMULTANEOUSLY. Please refer to the License Agreement included in the manual and on the envelope contained in the original packaging of the software, for more information.

You can also view the License Agreement online here.

All the latest IK products versions do not require the iKey. No. The StealthPlug is specifically designed to be compatible with Apple's USB Audio driver, delivering an optimal performance. Simply plug the StealthPlug in to one of your Mac's free USB ports. IMPORTANT: DO NOT connect the StealthPlug to a USB hub.

FAQ ID: 135

Reducing the Buffer Size value. The smaller the buffer size value is, the faster the response.

IMPORTANT: a small buffer size may introduce audio pop and click noises or CPU overload. Reliable operation highly depends on the performance and configuration of your system. Also, if there is an open audio application that is using the StealthPlug ASIO driver, you will not be able to change the buffer size value from the StealthPlug Control Panel. In this case, you will need to either:
  1. Close the application before you modify the buffer size or
  2. If available, enable the Release ASIO driver in background option in the ASIO options of the application.

FAQ ID: 148

The Stealth option will display a green light when the driver is properly installed (this visual reference is useful for Technical Support purposes), and the ASIO option will display a green light when there is an active audio application currently using the StealthPlug ASIO driver.

FAQ ID: 149

Because in this way the StealthPlug Control Panel will be automatically opened at Windows ® startup, minimized to the tray.

FAQ ID: 152

This is probably because AmpliTube is running in demo mode, which inserts white burst of noise about every 6-8 seconds. You must authorize your copy in order to make this disappear. The Demo version will always have the noise.

FAQ ID: 237

AmpliTube 1, AmpliTube LE, and AmpliTube 2.0 work as a plug in only, not as a standalone. For the reason, you have to launch it from inside a host application like Sonar, Cubase, Pro Tools, etc.
If you want to use AmpliTube as standalone, please get AmpliTube Live, AmpliTube 2 Live or AmpliTube 2 v2.1.

FAQ ID: 238

This happens on PT 6.x because the files are installed to the wrong location on your HD.

Please follow these instructions:

The Horizontal Scroll Bar will allow you to move the file into the display. While dragging the Horizontal Scroll Bar (to the right or left), the waveform will follow your movements, without having to release the mouse click to update the waveform visualization.

FAQ ID: 351

Sure. Please click on Settings/Audio Midi Set-up.

- In Windows XP:

Select the type of driver (ASIO or DirectX) from the left Audio Driver drop down menu. Then, select the actual audio interface from the right drop down menu (ASIO preferred).

- In Macintosh OSX,

SampleTank 2.x is compatible with Core Audio compatible audio interfaces. Please select your audio interface from the top drop down menu.

- Outputs Routing: the Outputs Routing is used to configure the 16 assignable outputs in SampleTank 2.x with specific audio outputs on the chosen audio interface. This allows you to assign where the audio from SampleTank 2.x is routed.

- Sample Rate and Buffer Size: the sample rate and buffer size drop down menus allow you to change the sample rate and buffer size of the audio interface. These settings are dependent on the driver of the audio interface itself. Not all audio interfaces have the same sample rates or buffer settings.

To get the optimum performance from SampleTank 2.x standalone, set the buffer size as small as possible without clicks and pops. This will create the least amount of latency during playback.

- Panel: this control will open the Control panel for the selected audio interface. Depending on the audio interface, this panel could contain more advanced feature settings on the audio interface drivers. This panel is only available when ASIO drivers are selected.

- MIDI Input: the MIDI input drop down menu allows you to select the MIDI input device with which you will control SampleTank 2.x. Any MIDI interface or controller with Windows XP / Vista or MAC OSX driver support will work with SampleTank 2.x.

FAQ ID: 425

The MIDI track is getting level from the MIDI controller, but the Stereo Aux Input track is not getting any signal when using SampleTank.

This is assuming that Pro Tools, OMS, and SampleTank have all been setup correctly.
Try pressing the play button, if the error -9135 appears, this is the reason the Stereo Aux Input track is not getting signal.

A -9135 error message means that Pro Tools LE is not communicating with Mbox.
Then, the Stereo Aux Input track should get a signal level.
First of all, the Mbox MUST be connected to a USB port on the computer, not a USB hub.

If that is the case follow the troubleshooting tips below.

1. Trash preferences. Mac Hard Drive/System Folder/Preferences folder. Drag to the trash: Digisetup and Pro Tools LE prefs. Empty trash. Shut down.
2. Plug the USB cable going to the Mbox to a different USB port on the computer. Restart
3. Launch Pro Tools LE and try to playback.

This happens on PT 6.x, the files are installed to the wrong location on your HD.
Here is how to fix it.

- Do a search on your system for the file sampletank.dpm.
- Once you find it go to the folder that has this file in it.
- Now you will see a few more SampleTank.x files here.
- Select all the SampleTank files in this folder and COPY & PASTE them to this new location. C:Program filesCommon filesDigidesignDAEPlugins. While loading SampleTank in Pro Tools, I received a ProTools error: DAE error #7401 and the plug-in will not load. This is due to a misplaced file. The best suggestion is to uninstall your current version and then install the latest version of the software, (always available online in the User Area).
Please check the location in which the files are installed. For ProTools v.6.x or higher, the files should be in the below location:

For MAC OSX:

FAQ ID: 428

This only happens on DJ, L, LE versions. On your system, please find the IK Multimedia folder/SampleTank Instruments/. Into the SampleTank Instruments folder there is a folder called XL Edition Instrument List. Please delete it.

Note: This problem does not occur in the XL version.

FAQ ID: 429

When you load samples some of them automatically have effects turned on. If you had 10 samples then there is a chance that there are 10 effects (or more) currently running. You can turn off effects that you do not use or need. This should help reduce the CPU usage quite a bit. SampleTank can have up to 4 effects per channel so make sure you are not using a lot of effects that you may not need.

FAQ ID: 430

Whenever you change Root folder, SampleTank will lose track of the samples that are no longer in the Root. You have to set a general Root folder that includes in subfolders, all the instruments you're going to use. This folder can be the 'SampleTank Instruments' folder', where all the instruments have been installed by default. To choose a Root folder, go to Prefs/Browse/Choose/Ok.

FAQ ID: 431

When the session becomes large and a lot of instruments are played in realtime by SampleTank, it may happen that the system is not powerful enough to handle all the computations needed. As this happens, you see the CPU performance meter rise, and some times Pro Tools also stops the song saying that there is too much CPU load.
In this case the solution is to "record "some SampleTank MIDI tracks into audio, in order to free precious CPU resources.

The complete procedure:

1. Solo the MIDI track you are going to bounce to disk and the Audio track where SampleTank is inserted.
2. Select the area you want to bounce highlighting the MIDI region. If you don't make any selection the whole song will be bounced by Pro Tools.
3. Select the function bounce to disk from the Pro Tools File menu.
4. Select multiple mono if you're going to create a stereo track or mono if you're going with a mono track.
5. Select Bounce.
6. After the bounce has finished import back to the Pro Tools session the saved audio file into an audio track.
7. Remove the instrument from SampleTank to free up more CPU usage.

Remember to solo the MIDI track and the audio channel where SampleTank is inserted!. Of course we recommend keeping the MIDI tracks in the session anyway, even if they're printed to audio this will allow for further modifications.

1. Go to your Basics menu, and click on Edit Free MIDI configuration
2. When your current FreeMIDI configuration pops up, go in the File pull down menu
3. Click on Preferences
4. Make sure the allow interapplication MIDI box is checked
5. Close FreeMIDI, and go back to DP.

SampleTank should now show up as one of the possible output choices.

FAQ ID: 433

The best way to record in Digital Performer a SampleTank track is to route the channel where SampleTank is inserted to a couple of busses. Then, create a new stereo audio track with those busses as the input. Then hit Rec on both the new track and the transport. So, it's very important that the input of the "recording" track is the same out busses where the SampleTank channel is routed.

FAQ ID: 434

This happens in some cases when you update SampleTank 2 to version 2.0.8.1.
You can go back down to the 2.06 update to clear this up. Also here is another possible workaround:

When you start a session in Digital Performer 4 you can use Default Templates for the session.(File/New ..)

You can start with a New blank session (first choice on top) or you might want to use one of the templates.

If you choose the Empty template, then SampleTank will have the aforementioned bug.
If you start with New (no template) or ANY other template everything will be fine.
To summarize, you can start sessions with New or ANY template but NOT with "Empty" template.

Traditionally, sample based synthesizers that cover all of your compositional needs from synths to pianos to guitars to drums and more are termed workstation synthesizers in hardware. These workstations often include a limited MIDI sequencer.
With Sonik Synth 2 being a multi-platform plug-in you might say it is the guts of a synthesizer workstation on steroids, on par with your equally powerful software sequencer host.

Please click on Settings/Audio Midi Setup.

- In Windows;

Select the type of driver (ASIO or DirectX) from the left Audio Driver drop down menu. Then, select the actual audio interface from the right drop down menu (ASIO preferred).

- In Macintosh OSX;

Sonik Synth 2 is compatible with Core Audio compatible audio interfaces. Please select your audio interface from the top drop down menu.

- Outputs Routing: the Outputs Routing is used to configure the 16 assignable output in Sonik Synth 2 with specific audio outputs on the chosen audio interface.
This allows you to assign where the audio from Sonik Synth 2 is routed.

- Sample Rate and Buffer Size: the sample rate and buffer size drop down menus allow you to change the sample rate and buffer size of the audio interface.
These settings are dependent on the driver of the audio interface itself. Not all audio interfaces have the same sample rates or buffer settings.

To get the optimum performance from Sonik Synth 2 standalone, set the buffer size as small as possible without clicks and pops. This will create the least amount of latency during playback.

- Panel: this control will open the Control panel for the selected audio interface. Depending on the audio interface, this panel could contain more advanced feature settings on the audio interface drivers. This panel is only available when ASIO drivers are selected.

- MIDI Input: the MIDI input drop down menu allows you to select the MIDI input device with which you will control Sonik Synth 2. Any MIDI interface or controller with Windows XP / Vista or MAC OSX driver support will work with Sonik Synth 2.

Each octave represents 12 semitones so if you click the + button once, the Trans display will show a +12 value, that means 1 octave higher, if you click the + button again the Trans display will show a +24 value that means 2 octaves higher, etc. This setting is stored within each user preset so it can be instantly recalled.

FAQ ID: 663

The Range section allows you to create complex splits and layers by limiting the key range, velocity range, and transposing parts by semitones. These settings are saved when saving a Combi Preset or when you save a host application session in which Sonik Synth™ 2 is being used as a plug-in.

Range - L : determine the playing note range Left limit for the selected Part. Parameter range is from C-2 to G8.

Range - R: determine the playing note range Right limit for the selected Part. Parameter range is from C-2 to G8.

Vel - Lo: determine the playing velocity range lower limit for the selected Part. Parameter range is from 0 to 127.

Vel -Hi : determine the playing velocity range higher limit for the selected Part. Parameter range is from 0 to 127.

Part Transpose (Part Trans): transposes the pitch of the selected zone by semitone increments.

For example, to change a Part that has a key range from C0 to G4 to a smaller key range (for example C2 to G2) adjust the Range-L value to C2 and the Range-R value to G2. This will limit the key range to the desired amount. Setting Range-L higher than Range-R is also allowed, to indicate a keyboard’s range where nothing is mapped.

It means that all Sonik Synth™ 2 16 parts can be assigned to 16 individual stereo outputs (32 mono ouputs).

FAQ ID: 668

Sonik Synth 2.1 RTAS has been updated to be fully compliant with Pro Tools 7.x versions. To fully match these compatibility requirements Sonik Synth 2.1 is no longer compatible with Pro Tools 6.x versions, and will not show up in the plug-ins list with Pro Tools 6.x versions.

Also, Pro Tools sessions made with Sonik Synth 2.0 will not load Sonik Synth 2.1 settings automatically. For this reason we suggest, before installing Sonik Synth 2.1, to save "Combis" from your sessions made using Sonik Synth 2.0. These Combis can be loaded in Sonik Synth 2.1 once having updated the plug-in and it will allow you to restore the sessions's settings.

We apologize for this inconvenience but it is a necessary step to make this plug-in compatible with current and future versions of ProTools.

FAQ ID: 670

Yes, by using AmpliTube X-GEAR you can control AmpliTube Fender® with any standard MIDI controller. However, we strongly recommend to use one from the IK range of controllers like the StompIO or the StealthPedal, that allow for an immediate control of the software with no set-up needed.

FAQ ID: 711

If you click the Preferences button on the X-GEAR (or any AmpliTube version) interface, you will see several options: Stomps Oversampling, Pre Oversampling, Amp Oversampling, High Resolution, Tempo Source: Host/Global or Preset. Enabling oversampling improves the sound quality significantly when the signal is heavily distorted. However, it will increase your CPU load. If you use high gain sounds, we suggest enabling the Pre Oversampling option.

Oversampling is enabled by default on preamplfiers, and disabled on stomps and power amplifiers. High Resolution improves the response and behavior of the Power Amplifier and Power supply stages, and it's enabled by default.

High Resolution - Enabling 'High Resolution' will improve the dynamic and musical response of the power amplifiers, at the expense of increased CPU usage. Please disable High Resolution only if your computer does not have sufficient CPU power for the current session. High Resolution is enabled by default.

Tempo Source - This option allows you to select between Host/Global and Preset Tempo source.

Host/Global - the BPM Sync Tempo source is the Host Application Tempo, (the tempo of the application into which the plugin is loaded). The default tempo is 120 BPM.

Preset - the BPM Sync Tempo is the value saved with the Preset.

FAQ ID: 887

You may not be able to see the transfer page and upload your Song due to two different reasons:

1) You interrupted the import connection by closing the ‘Ready to Add SONGS’ window by tapping the DONE button before the import has finished.

2) Your browser is not able to establish the connection to your iPhone/iPod/iPad.

1) INTERRUPTED IMPORT CONNECTION

After tapping the ADD SONG button the ‘Ready to Add SONGS’ window will appear. This window has to remain open during the entire the import process. When the process is complete, tap DONE to return to the SONG page.

IMPORTANT: Don't tap the DONE button until you have finished importing your songs on your device. Tapping the DONE button will interrupt the import connection and you won't be able to open the transfer page on your web browser.

2) CANNOT ESTABLISH IMPORT CONNECTION

If your computer HAS A WIRELESS CONNECTION create a Direct connection with your iPhone/iPod:

Creating a direct Wi-fi connection on your MAC

1) Turn your AirPort On

2) Choose 'Create Network' from the 'Network Preferences' drop down menu and give a name to the network you've just created

3) Tap the Settings button on your iPod/iPhone/iPad, then on 'Wi-Fi' and choose your new network

Creating a direct Wi-fi connection on your PC

1) Check that you have a Wi-Fi adapter and that it is enabled

2) Create a new 'ad-hoc' network and give it a name (the 'ad hoc' connection can also be called 'computer-to-computer')

3) Tap the Settings button on your iPod/iPhone/iPad, then on 'Wi-Fi' and choose your new network

If your computer DOESN'T HAVE A WIRELESS CONNECTION you have to check that your iPhone/iPod/iPad and your computer are on the same Subnet:

The Subnet number is the third number of the IP address. Verify that the Subnet number of your computer and of your iPhone/iPod/iPad are equal.

To find the iPhone/iPod/iPad IP address tap first on 'Settings', then on 'Wi-Fi', then on the little blue arrow on the right of the name of your chosen network.

On MACs the current IP address is in the 'Network Preferences'.

On PCs you can find the current IP address by clicking on the 'Local Area Connection Status' icon at the right bottom of your Desktop and choosing the 'Support' tab.

FAQ ID: 889

The iRig interface adapter is made for connecting your guitar/bass into your mobile device. But you can also use the iRig with line level signal sources such as synthesizers, keyboards or mixers. Plus you can connect a microphone by adding a suitable Mic Preamp.

Carefully read the iRig instruction sheet and the web manual to correctly set up and operate iRig with AmpliTube for iPhone or other recording, processing or tuning apps.

FAQ ID: 890

You can use the iRig interface adapter not only with the AmpliTube for iPhone apps, but also with any other recording, processing or tuning app.

Carefully read the iRig instruction sheet and the web manual to correctly set up and operate iRig with AmpliTube for iPhone or with other apps.

FAQ ID: 891

1. Download AmpliTube FREE, LE or Full app from the iTunes App Store
2. Plug the iRig into the headphone jack of your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad
3. Plug your guitar or bass into the iRig’s 1/4” jack
4. Plug your headphones or external speakers into the iRig headphone mini-jack. DO NOT put your headphones on yet (see the iRig instructions sheet and the web manual on using iRig with headphones)

Now you are ready to launch your AmpliTube app and start rocking!

FAQ ID: 892

Yes, you can connect the iRig interface adapter also to your speakers or to a mixer.
If you want to connect the iRig to a real amp you can do that easily as well: plug the iRig output directly into your amplifier input and bypass the AmpliTube amp+cab module. Now you can use your iPhone as your effects pedalboard!

IMPORTANT: To avoid feedback ALWAYS use 1/8” stereo jack to 2 x RCA or 2x 1/4” MONO jack cables to connect to amplifiers, powered speakers or mixers. NEVER use STEREO headphone 1/8” to 1/4” adapters or splitters (for more details also see the iRig instructions sheet and the web manual)

FAQ ID: 893

Please check first that you have connected everything properly.

Then, if you’re still not hearing any sound coming out of your headphones, speakers or amp, simply restart AmpliTube for iPhone. After restarting a warning message will appear: read it carefully, tap OK and play your guitar. You will now be able to hear the sound of your guitar processed by AmpliTube.

FAQ ID: 894

Most probably you are using iRig with your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad connected to your computer or to the power adapter.

To reduce the background noise simply disconnect the USB cable from your mobile device.

FAQ ID: 895

Glitches can occur when you are pushing your mobile device’s CPU to its limits.
On less powerful devices such as the iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 2G, low battery can cause glitches. To reduce this problem always keep your battery charge between 60% and 100%.

Another way to give more headroom to your mobile device CPU is putting it in Airplane Mode, disabling all the wireless features.

FAQ ID: 896

The iRig interface adapter is the best way to feed your guitar signal (or any other instrument's signal) into your iPhone/iPod/iPad.

iRig is not a passive lead, but an active preamp that is able to provide to the mic input on your mobile device the best possible sound in terms of quality and signal strength.

Using a simple passive adapter/cable (like 1/8'' inch adapters, 3-pin camera audio-video leads, etc..) will result in low level or distorted signal.

FAQ ID: 897

Most probably the iRig 1/8" plug is not completely inserting in the iPhone headphone socket because of some lint or dust that can accumulate inside the iPhone socket with time and use.

Check if the 1/8" iRig plug is completely inserting in the iPhone headphone socket or if something is not allowing for it. Even a very small insertion gap will not allow the device to work properly.

For this reason it is also advisable, when the iRig does not seems to be working properly, to remove any protective case form the iPhone or iPod that might block the 1/8" plug to completely insert.

FAQ ID: 899

The headset jack of iPhone/iPod/iPad in certain cases, has a certain amount of "crosstalk" between the input and the output, which is more pronounced when using headphones. This makes the output audio (that is send to headphones) to be fed to the input only in certain cases, by a certain degree. Normally this is negligible, but if you use high gain sounds (like Metal or Lead..) then it becomes noticeable. We are aware of this behavior, and during all tests we found that in most cases this was not a big problem in regular use.

Unfortunately the headset circuitry in the iPhone/iPod/iPad is meant to be used for microphone headsets and not hiZ input, so there is no possibilities around this problem, but again, in most cases during all tests we found this quite negligible in regular use.

Developing a low-cost accessory that does what iRig is capable of doing, using the in-out circuit of the device in a different way than what it was originally designed for, has not been easy and it has been full of technological and engineering challenges. We have solved all the other challenges at software level to address other issues we found during the development, but this specific one was not addressable in any way and it does not prevent iRig usage in the vast majority of the cases.

New accessories are currently in development that (at an higher price point) will be able to address also this issue.

After this, you can access the Custom Shop to buy gear models. The new gear models you purchase will be immediately available in the AmpliTube version installed on the computer connected to the Internet.

To unlock the same gear models in the AmpliTube version installed on the computer that is not connected to the Internet, you need to launch the Authorization Manager and click the OFFLINE AUTHORIZATION button.

To unlock your Custom Shop models with a computer that is not connected to the Internet, follow these basic steps:

    1. Save the authorization request file (Authorization Request.html) on the computer that is not connected to the Internet.

    2. Copy the file to a computer that is connected to the Internet while keeping the Authorization Manager open on the first computer.

    3. Double-click the 'Authorization Request.html' file on the computer that is connected to the Internet. It will open your browser.

The Custom Shop uses a credit system for its currency. In order to purchase gear, you will need to buy a Credit Pack. This is done easily within AmpliTube by clicking the ADD CREDITS button in the main browser of the Custom Shop. Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your purchase. Once completed, you will see the total number of credits purchased in the main browser window, in the upper left corner.

If you have purchased a Credit Pack outside of the Custom Shop (from a dealer, promotion, etc..), you must enter  the Serial Number on the ADD CREDITS page of the Custom Shop. Click on ADD CREDITS, then enter your serial number at the bottom of the page in the field below "Redeem Credit Pack Serial Number". Now click the REDEEM CREDITS button to add the Credit Pack to your account.

There are two occasions where you must use traditional currency (Dollars/Euros) in the Custom Shop:

1) You can purchase "Collections", or complete sets of models of gear from a particular manufacturer (such as Fender®, or Ampeg®) or in a certain style (Jimi Hendrix™, Metal).

2) You can also purchase IK Multimedia hardware devices in the Custom Shop, great interfaces and controllers such as the Stealth Plug and StealthPedal. In this case, you will proceed to checkout through the standard payment methods using a credit card or PayPal.

Most MIDI keyboards will work with iRig MIDI. The keyboard must be Core MIDI compatible and connected to the keyboard via one of the included MIDI cables.

If your keyboard is USB only, with no MIDI connections, it will not work with iRig MIDI.

Also, please check that iRig MIDI is snugly connected to your iOS device. If you have a case or bumper, you may need to remove this to properly connect iRig MIDI.

Unfortunately, there are a number of counterfeit iRig adapters seen available through some dealers. A counterfeit iRig can potentially damage your iOS device, so please click here for details on how to spot one of these counterfeit units.

When the app first launches, it will ask you "[APP NAME HERE] Would Like to Access the Microphone". Selecting 'OK' will allow you to work as usual. This allows your app to access your connected audio interface or iRig device.

If you select 'Don't Allow', you will not be able to hear any audio when playing through your iRig 2, iRig HD 2, iRig Pro I/O, etc..

If 'Don't Allow' is selected and you hear no output, please see either of the following suggestions to correct this:

  1. Open your Settings app and tap on Privacy > Microphone. You will see various audio apps listed, tap the slider to the right of the app and tap it so it appears green in color. This will allow access to the microphone and audio will be heard again.
  2. This option involves settings enabling restrictions, which some users may not want to do. If you do not wish to enable restrictions on your device, please see option 1 above to resolve the problem.

Open your Settings app and tap on General > Restrictions > tap 'Enable Restrictions' > Microphone > tap 'Allow Changes'.

You will see various audio apps listed, tap the slider to the right of the app and tap it so it appears green in color. This will allow access to the microphone and audio will be heard again.

Audiobus is a 3rd party application for iPhone/iPod/iPad which allows a user to route audio between apps. This means that you can send audio from your favorite instrument app to be recorded into another app. For example, you want to record the output from the SampleTank app and record into Garageband or Loopy HD. Then, you want to record some vocals through the VocaLive app into the same session. With using Audiobus, all of this is possible quickly and easily.

To use Audiobus, you must purchase it from the App Store and install. Launch the app and you will see Input, Effect, and Output options. Tap to add an app as an Input, which is what will be used to generate sounds be it an instrument app (i.e SampleTank), a guitar simulator (i.e. AmpliTube), or drum machine.

Select Effect as an option if you want to process the input signal through an app. For example, if you wish to sing through VocaLive as the Input app into the AmpliTube app which you are using as an Effect. This will allow you to route the audio from VocaLive into AmpliTube to alter the vocals, and finally, you must select a destination, or Output app, such as Garageband, Loopy HD, Multi-Track DAW, etc..

Core Audio is the digital audio infrastructure of iOS (and Mac OS X). It is designed to be a uniform audio drive capable of playback, recording, sounds effects, and more. It allowed developers to use Core Audio as a stable audio platform instead of creating their own for playback and recording purposes.

Core Audio is built into your iOS device (and Mac), there is nothing for you to download. Simply using the device with any audio, you are using Core Audio.

Due to security changes made with the Garageband 10, some IK plugins will not appear as authorized when loaded. This will occur even if you attempt to authorize again, or if the program is authorized and working outside of Garageband 10, such as in another DAW or in standalone.

Please note the below is a workaround, not the permanent solution. There are other issues related to this such as the inability to try out Custom Shop gear while in Garageband 10 and an issue with the Preset Browser not being displayed. Some users may encounter an issue with Presets not appearing in the drop-down menu either, please see our FAQ on this here.

Please do the following to authorize your IK software in Garageband 10. (Note that AmpliTube 4 is used as an example)

1. Authorize your IK software using the Authorization Manager application.
2. Launch your IK software in standalone from the Applications folder to verify it is authorized.
3. Then, open a Finder window and navigate to the below location:

Mac HD > Users > username > Library > Preferences (Note: This User Library is hidden by default. To view, press the 'alt' key while viewing the Finder > Go menu, or, open a Finder window and click up top on View > Show View Options. There is an option 'Show Library Folder', enable this.)

Here, locate the file named: com.ikmultimedia.AmpliTube 4.plist

4. Copy this folder over to the following folder location: Mac HD > Users > username > Library > Containers > com.apple.garageband10 > Data > Library > Preferences

There will already be a file of the same name in this location, select to Replace the file. Once the file has copied over, please launch Garageband 10. Insert AmpliTube 4, you are now authorized and ready to work!

*Note: Due to this workaround, if you happen to purchase any new gear models in the Custom Shop after performing the above steps, you will need to repeat the process with the updated .plist file after verifying the new gear is appearing in standalone mode.
