A majority of IK products can be registered using the Authorization Manager. To view the incompatible products, click here.

If your Authorization Manager is not accepting your serial number, this may be because it found a wrong character inserted to your serial.

Pease see below for the most common errors:

* Typing a 0 ("zero" number) instead of an O ("o" letter)
* Typing 1 ("one" number) instead of an I ("i" letter)
* Typing 2 ("two" number) instead of an Z ("z" letter)
* Typing 5 ("five" number) instead of an S ("s" letter)
* Typing 8 ("eight" number) instead of an B ("b" letter)
* Typing a "." (point) instead of a "-" (minus), and vice-versa, is one of the most common occurrence.

Suggestions:

* When possible, please copy and paste the information.
* Cut off all the leading and trailing spaces, these are seen as 'characters'.
* Please type all codes UPPERCASE during the installation and registration process.
* Check that the Serial Number that you are entering matches with the product installed.

The Serial Number is a unique code used to identify each IK Product and for Registration purposes. It contains a combination of eighteen digits/characters organized in 3 groups of 5, 8 and 5 units respectively.

Registering this serial number unlocks any gear associated with your product, as well as any associated warranty with your product.

Example: "ATX30-xxxxxxxx-xxxxx".

You will need the Serial Number to register your IK product via the Authorization Manager or the Product Registration page.

FAQ ID: 10

The  Serial number  for your product is written on the  Registration Card included with your product packaging, inside the license envelope. For Digital Delivery items, this serial will be found inside an email received after purchase.

For a clear characters' identification, please refer to the legend at the bottom of the card.

Note: the zero can easily be identified in your Serial Number because it is crossed by a line).

Yes, if the IK product that you are using is protected by challenge-code system (doesn't require the IK USB dongle called iKey). In this case, you can install up to 3 computers provided that they are USED ONLY BY YOU, OWNED BY YOU AND ARE NOT USED SIMULTANEOUSLY. Please refer to the License Agreement included in the manual and on the envelope contained in the original packaging of the software, for more information.

A new Authorization Code must be requested for each additional computer T-rackS is installed on. To learn how to get a new Authorization Code, please read its related FAQ.

FAQ ID: 591

On both Mac and PC, yes, this is possible using some third party software.

Please do note, if you have an issue with any third party software, this is outside of IK Multimedia's control. These steps are offered for those who don't mind using some extra software to make things happen.

  1. Windows: Download and install VB-Cable here. This program will allow you to route your system audio to a virtual cable.
Mac: Download and install iShowU Audio Capture. This program will allow you to route your system audio to a virtual cable.
  2. Download Pedalboard 2. This program can be used to route signal through different plug-ins similarly to a DAW.
  3. Windows: Download and install ASIO4ALL here. This driver set will allow multiple devices to be used at a single time on Windows.
Mac: Create an Aggregate device to allow you to accept input from iShowU Audio Capture and play output from your audio interface.
  4. Restart your system to allow all the proper changes to be made to your system. This should be done with any driver installations.
  5. Windows: Next, open up your Control Panel and go to the Hardware & Sounds section -> Sounds. Set your systems output to the CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable).
Mac: Next, use the search tool in the upper right hand corner to open the Audio/MIDI set up and set "iShowU Audio Capture" as your system output with a right-click.
  6. Windows: Launch Pedalboard 2 and use Options -> Audio Settings. Select your input as your VB Cable, which would be your system audio output, then select your output as your main sound card or audio interface.
Mac: Launch Pedalboard 2 and use Options -> Audio Settings. Select your input as your iShowU Audio Capture, which would be your system audio output, then select your output as your main sound card or audio interface.
  7. Next, inside Pedalboard 2 go to Options -> Plug-in List.  In this menu go to Options -> Scan for new... and press scan. If you use custom plug-in folders, you can add them here.
  8. Now, exit this settings menu and load ARC 2.5 or ARC 3 by double-clicking anywhere in the background.
  9. Route your audio through the ARC 2.5 or ARC 3 plug-ins with the on-screen cables. To do this, click the button/notch to the right of your Audio Input "Input 1" and "Input 2", a cable will appear which you can attach to the left side of the ARC 2 plug-in. Follow this method to route your output as well.
  10. Now you can use the "E" button on the ARC 2.5 or ARC 3 plug-in to edit your settings.

FAQ ID: 609

T-RackS requires an Authorization Code for full installation. Until it's authorized, T-RackS will stay in demo mode. The Authorization Code is based on a Digital ID, generated by T-RackS starting from your system characteristics and your Serial number.

The correspondence between Digital ID and Authorization Code is checked every time T-RackS is started; this ensures that if you copy or install T-RackS on a different machine (which will have a different Digital ID), the same Authorization Code will NOT work. Check the IK General FAQ’s to learn more about Installation, Authorization and Registration related topics.

FAQ ID: 610

T-RackS supports both mono and stereo files at a variety of sampling rates. You can load and process 44.1 kHz (the standard sampling rate for CDs), as well as 48 kHz, 32 kHz and 22 kHz (stereo only). When working with 22 kHz sampling rates, T-RackS will adapt its EQ curves to the reduced bandwidth of 22 kHz sampling rates. For both PC and Macintosh, T-RackS supports 16 bit and 24 bit files.

On the PC platform, T-RackS supports .WAV files.
On the Mac, T-RackS supports both Sound Designer II and AIFF file formats.

Keep in mind that as a mastering tool, T-RackS should always be the last processing device in your audio production. If you need to process your audio with reverb, stereo image corrections, phase coherency adjustments, spectral enhancers and so on, do so before you master the files with T-RackS. T-RackS will apply dithering to its internal 32 bit floating-point resolution when down-sampling to CD-standard 16 bits

FAQ ID: 676

Mastering is the final stage of processing before going to press on audio CDs, movie  soundtracks, multimedia soundtracks, MP3 files and so on.
Its purpose is to obtain the maximum possible sound quality from the original mixes by "sweetening" it with equalization, compression and limiting, with the aim of letting the music shine as much as possible in all its nuances and potentially enhancing the original musical production aims and perspective. Further more, mastering is essential to balance and create a pleasing continuity from one track to the next of a, for example CD.
It is extremely important to work with the best possible speakers in a room that sounds good because this is the final stage where you'll have to make decisions on the overall songs balance, and it' s an extremely delicate process. If you have to process the audio file with other effects like reverbs, stereo image corrections, phase coherency adjustments, spectral enhancers, and so on, be sure to do this before mastering with T-RackS. T-RackS should always be the last processing pass in the audio production work-flow.

FAQ ID: 677

No. The only upgrade path is with the crossgrade to T-RackS 3 Deluxe.

FAQ ID: 681

The number of files that can be loaded depends on your hard disk space.

FAQ ID: 682

No. T-RackS 3 is only a mastering tool for processing single or multiple audio files. To burn a CD you would need specific hardware (CD writer) and software.

FAQ ID: 684

Not with T-RackS 3.The only supported export formats are WAV, AIFF and Apple CAF.

FAQ ID: 685

Yes, as plug-in version within your favorite host you can automate any parameters and with the Stand Alone Version you can automate changes using 8 different snapshots that recall any modification applied to T-RackS’ parameters.

FAQ ID: 686

No. External side-chaining is not available.

FAQ ID: 687

M-S means “mid-side” and allows for independent control of the “center” part from the “sides” or “lateral” part of the musical program. The stereo signal is encoded to M-S before applying equalization and decoded back to Stereo after the EQ has been applied. So instead of being able to individually work on L and R channels you will be able to process the “center” and “lateral” part of your mix. This can be very useful in many cases, for example where a mix presents a weak vocal intelligibility. In this case, you would apply mid boost to the M-channel only (center) without touching the mid frequency response on the lateral part, where you may have guitars.

FAQ ID: 691

Yes, you can do it in both T-RackS 5 Plug-Ins and Stand Alone Versions. By using the compare function you can heard difference between original and processed audio and by A-B-C-D settings so you will be able to quickly compare between up to four different set up without pausing your audio, a function that is particularly useful during fine-tuning sonic details.

FAQ ID: 692

Most of today’s digital audio has a sampling rate of 44.1 or 48 kHz. High-resolution digital audio is used sometimes but is still far from being defined as a standard. Unfortunately 44.1 and 48 kHz sampling rates are simply not enough for extremely high quality audio processing, especially if we talk about high frequency filtering and equalizers. A technique that can be used is called Oversampling, where the audio signal is resampled at a higher (typically 2x or 4x) sampling rate, sent to the processor and then down-sampled to the original rate. This allows for the processor to deliver better quality because it runs at a higher sampling rate.

FAQ ID: 694

RMS will give precious information about “power” of the audio signal while Peak show the instantaneous audio peak level and Perceived Loudness give reliable information on the effective “sense of loudness” a song or audio in general can deliver to the listener.

FAQ ID: 696

The green area indicates where most loud passages should normally peak, while red area indicates where most loud passages are peaking in extreme conditions or on very very loud masters.

FAQ ID: 1087

Due to security changes made with the Garageband 10, some IK plugins will not appear as authorized when loaded. This will occur even if you attempt to authorize again, or if the program is authorized and working outside of Garageband 10, such as in another DAW or in standalone.

Please note the below is a workaround, not the permanent solution. There are other issues related to this such as the inability to try out Custom Shop gear while in Garageband 10 and an issue with the Preset Browser not being displayed. Some users may encounter an issue with Presets not appearing in the drop-down menu either, please see our FAQ on this here.

Please do the following to authorize your IK software in Garageband 10. (Note that AmpliTube 4 is used as an example)

1. Authorize your IK software using the Authorization Manager application.
2. Launch your IK software in standalone from the Applications folder to verify it is authorized.
3. Then, open a Finder window and navigate to the below location:

Mac HD > Users > username > Library > Preferences (Note: This User Library is hidden by default. To view, press the 'alt' key while viewing the Finder > Go menu, or, open a Finder window and click up top on View > Show View Options. There is an option 'Show Library Folder', enable this.)

Here, locate the file named: com.ikmultimedia.AmpliTube 4.plist

4. Copy this folder over to the following folder location: Mac HD > Users > username > Library > Containers > com.apple.garageband10 > Data > Library > Preferences

There will already be a file of the same name in this location, select to Replace the file. Once the file has copied over, please launch Garageband 10. Insert AmpliTube 4, you are now authorized and ready to work!

*Note: Due to this workaround, if you happen to purchase any new gear models in the Custom Shop after performing the above steps, you will need to repeat the process with the updated .plist file after verifying the new gear is appearing in standalone mode.
