Never any studio I've ever been in compares to what we get in here.
The hitmaking sound of FAME Studios
"For a period of about three and a half years, while I was there, whenever the top 10 would come out, we would have at least three records in the top 10.
"We were just people with a purpose who knew how to work together productively. We became a track factory, there to cut a hit for our artists and we would do whatever it took.
That's a good-sounding natural chamber, it really is.
"I love echo chambers, but I really like this one out here. You know there's a saying: "Muscle Shoals: small town, big sound."
"It's true. I've done close to 700 major recording sessions. Most of the Shoals records are totally different than most records around the country.
"Music is in me. Everybody else that works in this business, we all have purpose. Every day is a gift and we fulfill that purpose by listening."
