The Double Special TONEX Signature Collection includes 40 Premium Tone Models captured from two historic Overdrive Special® combo amplifiers. Inspired by expressive blues-driven Texas tones, smooth fusion sustain, and articulate edge-of-breakup textures heard in the work of players such as Robben Ford, Carlos Santana, John Mayer, and Larry Carlton, the collection spans piano-like cleans to harmonically rich, singing lead sounds.
Each amplifier was captured with and without the cabinet across a wide range of sweet spots, channel configurations, and gain settings. The collection also includes full rigs with classic front-end boosts based on a gold Klon® Centaur, an Ibanez@ TS10, and a JHS® Morning Glory®, recreating the stacked tones often paired with these amplifiers for added sustain and midrange focus.
