I don't hear signal what could be wrong?

If you don't hear signal from your iRig HD X there are some quick steps to help figure out what could be going on.

  • Check the connected (iOS or macOS) device Volume.
  1. Make sure the headphone volume is up on the iRig HD X. Tap the middle button until you get to the first LED (with Headphone symbol) and turn the knob up.  This is the global level going to the stereo headphone out (you can also connect monitors to this output).
  2. Turn the device volume up with the buttons on the side of the iOS device (or using the volume buttons on macOS). This is the level from your apps output (like TONEX or AmpliTube).
  • Check to ensure Microphone Permissions are engaged.
  1. iOS apps (and macOS apps) will require microphone permissions to access external audio devices, like iRig HD X.
  2. Open the iOS Settings app and scroll to the bottom to find your app.
  3. Tap the app icon to show all included permissions.
  4. Make sure Microphone is engaged.
  • Turn the Direct Monitoring signal off.
  1. Tap the button on iRig HD X until you're on the third LED, then turn the control until all the LEDs active are on the left side.
  2. Note, the Direct Monitoring (when engaged) will playback even if your iOS Device volume is down.
  • Make sure Loopback+ is off if you're not using it.
  1. Tap the button on the iRig HD X until the last icon is lit.
  2. Make sure you only see a single LED, this indicates the feature is off.
  3. Tap to select this option and the device will restart.

While Loopback+ can be left engaged at all times, this will turn your iRig HD X from a 1 Channel (input) device to a 3 Channel device. This means your apps will need to look for signal on Channel 3 if you have Loopback+ engaged. If you're not hearing your signal, we suggest disabling it to help find the reason your not hearing signal.
