Bob Power has produced, recorded and/or mixed platinum albums for Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, A Tribe Called Quest, Ozomatli, De la Soul, Common, The Roots. and many more. Here he shares his T-RackS 3 tips and tricks.

"Make sure you try the different modes on the Brickwall limiter, as they have fairly different levels of transparency - it really is track-specific. Choosing the right mode for the song can help the sonics, as well as the level.

Also, the Opto is great for taking the digital edge off of things, and like a hardware opto, it has a really pleasant liquid feel at a medium gain reduction.

A nice way to get the best of all worlds for mastering is a 670 or Opto first (depending on the track), then the Linear Phase EQ, and finish up with the Brickwall limiter. You'll find that you can achieve a greater range of color if you experiment with the levels between modules. As with the best analog pieces, the T-RackS 3 modules change character as you hit them harder. If you want to keep things cleaner, keep the inter-module levels lower, and then crank the limiter at the end. But if you hit the compressors harder at the top of the chain, you can get pretty amazing level by the end of the chain.

Additionally, the 670 makes a great drum or rhythm section bus compressor. It has something quite special, and often you can enhance the groove of the track with a touch of creative pumping."
