At the heart of Royal 45 Legends are three exceptionally rare vintage heads, each with its own voice, feel, and history. Spanning the earliest years of British amplifier design, these amplifiers represent a pivotal moment in the evolution of blues rock and classic guitar tone.
From open, touch-sensitive breakup to thicker, harmonically rich overdrive, each amplifier delivers a unique playing experience while preserving the warmth, sag, and dynamic response that made these early British designs so influential.

One of fewer than eight White Tolex units ever produced and originally built for Brian Poole of The Tremeloes, this amplifier represents one of the rarest surviving examples from the earliest years of British 45-watt amplifier production. Built before many later circuit refinements became standardized, it delivers an unusually open and harmonically rich response with exceptional touch sensitivity and dynamic range. Its airy top end, soft compression, and fluid breakup capture the unmistakable feel of early British blues rock tone.

Produced during the transition from the earliest offset-era designs, this rare White Panel model features early-spec components and construction details rarely found in later production amplifiers. Its fast attack, highly reactive feel, and articulate upper midrange deliver the raw immediacy associated with many formative British blues and rock recordings. Compared to later examples, the response feels more open and less compressed, with remarkable sensitivity to picking dynamics and guitar volume changes.

This 1965 transition-era amplifier reflects the evolution toward the later Plexi period while still retaining the warmth and sag of the earliest 45-style circuits. Equipped with KT66 tubes and original RS transformers, it delivers thicker mids, smoother compression, and a more rounded overdrive character than the earlier models. The result is a richer, more saturated voice that helped bridge early blues-rock tones into the heavier classic rock sounds that followed.
These amplifiers are more than rare; they represent a defining moment in the evolution of electric guitar tone. Two originate from the legendary Capitol Records collection in Los Angeles, while the third comes from one of Europe’s most respected vintage Marshall collections. Together, they reflect the era that shaped British blues rock and laid the foundation for classic rock guitar tone heard around the world.
Every Tone Model was captured through period-correct cabinets loaded with Celestion G12M25 Greenbacks and early-′60s Celestion G12 Alnico speakers.
Three distinct configurations are included:
Greenbacks, Alnico, Mixed.
Each offers its own balance of attack, warmth, compression, and vintage character, letting you move from tighter response to a softer, more open feel.
To preserve every detail, each amplifier was captured using a premium multi-microphone setup including SM57, MD421, U67, U87, and R121 microphones. This approach ensures depth, clarity, and tones that sit naturally in a mix without additional processing.
Royal 45 Legends is designed to fit any workflow, from studio tracking to live performance. It includes:
What defines these early 45-style designs is feel as much as tone. Their lower-wattage design creates natural sag and touch-sensitive response, producing the soft, dynamic “give” that makes these amplifiers so addictive to play.
Royal 45 Legends is built for players who value feel, response, and authenticity. From classic rock and blues to modern productions seeking vintage character, it delivers inspiring tones that translate effortlessly from studio to stage.
Royal 45 Legends is more than a collection. It’s a direct connection to a defining era of guitar tone. With TONEX, these sounds are not just preserved, they’re fully playable.
