3 Steps to Make a Song

1) Start Recording

• To prepare recording in Riffworks click on the Recorder PLAY button.

• Easily add a drum part to your guitar recording with InstantDrummer.

RiffWorks includes four diverse backups to accompany you while you record: InstantDrummer, Metronome, ReWire, REX Player, with full editing on their individual settings. The BACKUPS are mixed into the Riff's audio just like layers are. InstantDrummer produces great drum grooves, the REX player allows to use any REX loops, the REWIRE allows to use any REWIRE instruments (such as Reason).

• Click on AMP and set up a great guitar tone.

AmpliTube 2 Live will pop up and give you up to 15 guitar and bass amp combinations plus 10 effects to create a great guitar tone.

• Click the big red RECORD button and start to play, your takes will appear when recording.

Each time you record, one or more new layers is created into your Riff. Layers are basically a single recording of your instrument. You can stack layers on top of each other (bass, guitar, vocals) to create a full groove. The Riff Recorder, by default, will record a new layer each time the Riff loops. Use this looping feature to quickly double up your tracks, do multiple takes, and so on. Each layer has several controls for mixing and applying effects.

• You can instantly apply one of the 7 included effects to your tracks. You can choose between Filter, Shaper, Modulator, Delay, Reverb, Compressor and EQ and you can apply these to each separate layers or to the entire Riff.

2) Recording More Tracks

• Add more recording.

By repeating the procedure at point 1, you'll make more and more Riffs for different parts of your song. Each Riff is represented by a colored brick in the RIFFS list. Use different colors to organize your Riffs. Each Riff can have a different InstantDrummer or other BACKUPS, different TEMPO, LENGTH and different RIFF EFFECTS.

3) Creating a Song

• Create a song with few mouse click by drag and drop.

Once you have several Riffs, you can drag them up to the SONG timeline to build a song easily and you can rearrange Riffs in the SONG timeline to experiment with your song structure.

• Recording vocals or solos. Once you have a song built, you can record solos or vocal tracks across the entire song by using the SONGLAYERS. Song Layers is a special Riff that allows you to record straight linear tracks, or layers, over a complete song. This is especially useful for recording solos and vocals.

• Create an entire MIX or export separate tracks for post-production.

To get a .WAV file to burn to a CD, simply press the MIX button. If you want to export separate tracks simply mute the layer accordingly during the mix-down process.
