Linkin Park Engineer Ethan Mates on Ampeg SVX, CSR, and AmpliTube 2
Recorded and mixed with Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Korn and Sting

Ethan Mates has developed working relationships with producers including Jimbo Barton, Rick Rubin, Ed Thacker, Thom Panunzio, Jim Scott, Will I Am, Cee-Lo and Mike Shinoda. Recorded and mixed artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Pussycat Dolls, Black Eyed Peas, Tupac, Korn, Lionel Richie, Tricky, Sting, and many more.

"I probably use the Ampeg SVX more than anything else, mostly while mixing, either directly on the DI track or blending it in with the dry direct track. Recently, I used it to mix the Korn track "Haze," the title track a video game. I also have used it to mix a live CD for Linkin Park, the debut album for Burn Halo (Warner Bros), an EP I produced for Rude Buddha (Opus), and most recently, a collection of iTunes Originals for Staind. I also use it heavily on all of the soundtrack material I write/produce, like a recent soccer DVD titled "MLS: The Road to the Cup", and several Vans surfing and snowboarding DVDs.

I also used Classik Studio Reverb in most of those situations as well, the Plate in particular. Most studios don't have real plates anymore, and the CSR is my fave digital recreation. The room is also really useful for drums. I also use AmpliTube fairly often, although it usual ends up on keyboard/synth sounds as opposed to guitars."
