Kylie's Songwriter Can't Get IK Out of His Head!
Grammy and Ivor Novello award winner, Rob Davis tells us why IK products are essential in his studio

Rob Davis is one of the world's most highly respected and sought after songwriters. Penning for Kylie Minogue her massive worldwide hits 'Can't Get you Out of My Head' and 'Come into my world', the massive club hit 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' with Italian DJ Spiller for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 'I need a Miracle' for Coco and 'It's Not over' which was a hit for Grace and also the Klaxons. Rob is well known for his collaborations with DJ Paul Oakenfold and Cathy Dennis.

Rob took out some time from his heavy schedule to talk to us in his UK studio.
He first told us about ARC (Advanced Room Correction) System, which he installed earlier this year:

"ARC is amazing! You hear your mixes in a true way and  everything just seems clearer. When playing my work outside of the studio it sounds exactly like it did inside the studio, so, I know I can really trust my mixes.  We used to pay big money to work in places with 'flat response' control rooms,  now those same conditions are available by using ARC (at a fraction of the price!) in any room you want to work in."

He then moved on to T-RackS:

"The sound quality is fantastic. The compressors are transparent, the EQ is positive and clean. I use the modules individually as inserts on channels but also as a complete suite on the stereo output. The presets are spot-on and I don't usually have  to tweak them too much. It's all so easy to use and the results are controlled and very pleasing. I'm counting the days until I can get my hands on your forthcoming T-RackS 3 Deluxe!!"

Finally Rob spoke to us about AmpliTube 2 and Ampeg SVX:

"AmpliTube 2, for me; it's the absolute best. I can say nothing more! It brings guitars alive -  heavy metal, clean, medium crunch, AC 30s, surfin' a la Beach Boys, jazz, spring reverb, you name it - it's all there. As a guitarist, I love this plug-in because it is so accurate and natural."

"AMPEG SVX gives my tracks some serious bottom end. I've put bass synths through it as well as bass guitar. You can have different amp heads combined with different cabs, a choice of mics (that really  do make a difference) and the mic positions are variable. Just like real Ampeg bass amps, this plug-in delivers!   It's very quick to get great bass sounds that punch - like the best equipment, it does the job!"
