The NAMM-jam: On the first day of the 2005 NAMM show, Rob Lewis and the Movement Orchestra came to the IK booth and jammed with Sonik Synth™ 2, showing the incredible potential for improvisation and flexibility in live situations that this powerful plug-in synth workstation brings to musicians. Demonstrating the awesome tones of Ampeg® SVX, the first bass amp plug-in ever made, bassist Vail Johnson rocked out so hard, that a very well-known pop star singing across the hallway lost her audience to Vail’s mind-boggling bass played through the new Ampeg® SVX. Avant-garde drummer Will Calhoun took playing with Sonik Synth™ 2 to never-before-heard levels of musical expression, showing the endless creative possibilities that this powerful plug-in synth workstation puts in the hands of a creative performing artist. Keyboard extraordinaire Robbie Gennet teamed up with award-winning sound designer Frank Serafine to show the amazing workstation and atmospheric sounds within Sonik Synth™ 2’s massive library. Frank Serafine also demonstrated the unlimited sonic possibilities for creating outlandish combis and ambience sound effects using some of the thousands of elements and powerful features of Sonik Synth™ 2.

Inspired by the all-new AmpliTube® 2 and Ampeg® SVX, guitar genius Neil Zaza had an amazing spur-of-the-moment jam with bass legend Polo Jones.

Top session players like Ricky Lawson (Steely Dan, Earth Wind & Fire, Eric Clapton), Chester Thompson (Genesis, Phil Collins) and Greg Phillengaines (keyboard sessionist who has played with nearly everyone) came by to get first hand demonstrations of Sonik Synth™ with Sonic Reality CEO, Dave Kerzner. Audiences gathered as Greg went through sounds and popular songs turning to Dave to say “Now THAT’S sweet!”.

Well-known musicians and producers also stopped by to share their experiences using IK software and hear about the exciting new products announced at NAMM. 311’s Nick Hexum got a hands-on training on Sonik Synth™ 2; and in the mean time Skid Row’s guitarist Snake was stoked to get a chance to play through AmpliTube® 2.0, while Steve “Bunny” McClure from electronic phenomenon Rabbit in the Moon dropped in to check out Sonik Synth™ 2 and get his hands on T-RackS® and some multi-format Sonik Capsule™ sounds. Among the other artists that came to visit the IK Multimedia booth were hip-hop diva Mya, Black Eyed Peas’ musical director Printz Board and George Pajon Jr (Black Eyed Peas’ guitarist), Kenneth Crouch (musical director for Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony), Morris Hayes (Prince’s keyboardist), award-winning producer Teddy Riley, and Living Color guitarist Vernon Reid. Also spotted were Green Day’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, drum’n’bass legend Photek and “Alien” Tom, and many other celebrated musicians.

But even more magic happened by night, as IK teamed up with other sponsors for a one of a kind Galaxy of Rock Stars Concert.
