Richard Fortus on AmpliTube and Miroslav Philharmonik
Philharmonik quote and video testimonial from the versatile Guns N’ Roses guitar player
"Not only did Miroslav Philharmonik improve the sound of my orchestral arrangements, it cut my production time in half! I've only had it for 2 weeks & already, I can't imagine life without it!"
Richard Fortus
Playing violins since the age of 4, strings have been the center of Richard's universe. A member of the prestigious St. Louis Youth Symphony as an early teen, his focus eventually shifted to the guitar. A gigging musician at the age of 15, he excelled at a performing arts high school and eventually attended Southern Illinois University on a music scholarship, studying several musical styles, including jazz, classical, blues and rock. His versatility and boundless creative energy have since led to a career in recording, touring, writing and producing many of today's artists, including: Guns N' Roses, Puff Daddy, Ozzy Osbourne, DMX, Crystal Method, Gravity Kills, ODB, Billy Idol, and Cindy Lauper–to name just a few.
He worked extensively on the score of the Academy Award winning film, "Monster", as well as "The Village", "The Fast and the Furious", "Driven", and the forthcoming film entitled "Swimmers". He lent his talents to the #1 album, "Celebrity," by N'SYNC, played on Britney Spears' album, and recorded with Ben Folds, Frank Black, BT, and Enrique Iglesias. He also played on and produced songs for a new record by The Psychedelic Furs. Richard also has written and produced the score for a movie by Michael Halsband, entitled "Surf Movie" and recorded the music for countless television advertisements and program themes.
He has toured the world extensively with Enrique Iglesias, as well as touring with The Psychedelic Furs, and BT. He appeared in 2 top 10 videos with Enrique as well as dozens of television appearances and they were fortunate enough to be a part of the hugely successful telethon, America: A Tribute to Heroes, that was broadcasted in over 62 countries and on almost all domestic channels and seen by over 80 million people.
From devastating rock riffs to the most delicately picked classical passages, Richard finds himself only truly at home with a guitar in-hand, and his ability to effortlessly switch gears between musical genres has distinguished him as one of the most in-demand session and touring professionals in the business.
He has currently been working with Guns N' Roses on the long-anticipated Chinese Democracy album and has toured with the band.
