March 2004, Modena, Italy – In occasion of the 2004 Musik Messe IK Multimedia is proud to announce that Sonik Capsules™,
a range of innovative sound libraries from leading US sound designer Sonic Reality will start shipping in Summer 2004.
Sonik Capsules™ represent a step forward in multi-format sound libraries for software samplers. Thanks to the exclusive UFO software included, each Sonik Capsule title is able to work as a “native” sample library in the most popular software samplers including IK SampleTank®, Steinberg® HALion™, eMagic® exS24™, Native Instruments® Kontakt™ and Battery™, Propellerhads® Reason™ NNXT and more all from the same package.
In addition, thanks to the inclusion of the new SampleTank® 2 LE, each of these titles can also be used directly as a sound module plug-in in the 9 platforms supported by SampleTank® 2 in Mac®OS9, Mac®OSX and Windows®.
A new concept for a sound library
Sonik Capsules™ represent a break-trough in native sound support concepts. While most of the libraries on the market are programmed natively for only one or just a few formats, Sonik Capsules™ are the only libraries that are able to work in many of the most popular samplers and have the ability to work in additional formats added over time. Sonic Reality has achieved this with a proprietary software application called UFO (Universal Format Outputter) which uses a built-in Translator™ engine combined with an intelligent sound library installer to offer this amazing flexibility of native sound support in so many possible formats. Starting from the wave content, the UFO is able to install the Sonik Capsule™ titles onto a hard drive in ALL of the supported formats with true native compatibility and even enhanced programming which is something mere conversion software cannot do.
Not only sound libraries but sound modules!
Along with multiple software sampler support it also offers multiple plug-in format support too! Sonik Capsules™ will be able to work directly as a sound module plug-in with the included SampleTank® 2 LE software, a special version of IK’s brand new SampleTank® 2 plug-in sample workstation. Used with SampleTank® 2, the Sonik Capsules will be able to work in EVERY popular open platform sequencer or DAW (including ProTools®, Cubase®, Logic®, Sonar®, Digital Perfomer® and many others) because of SampleTank® 2 LE’s support for RTAS, VST®i, DXi, MAS and Audio Units plug-in formats for Mac®0S9, Mac®0SX and Windows® XP.

Sonik Capsules™ will cover every category of instruments and ensembles with a range of over 24 titles. Each title specializes in offering a focused collection of great sounds like Acoustic or Electric Guitars, Acoustic or Electric Pianos, Studio Drums, Bass, Brass, Solo Strings, Ensemble Strings, Organs, Winds, FX, Percussion and more. Sonik Capsules™ are single disc libraries with high quality professional sound content designed to offer serious bang for the buck!
Price and availability
The Sonik Capsules™ have an MSRP of $/Euro 99 each. The first range of 6 Sonik Capsules (Studio Drums, Studio Bass, FX Drums, Groove, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar) will be available by April 2004 and will be distributed exclusively by IK Multimedia and its worldwide network of distributors and dealers.
