IK Multimedia had a fantastic show at the first ever Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas. AmpliTube™ was clearly on of the highlights of the festival fair as guitar enthusiasts from all over the globe gathered for this historic weekend to attend clinics and get educated on top of the line products for guitars and software. Those who visited the IK booth at the Guitar Center Village were amazed at the quality sounds of AmpliTube™. Apple® was also on site demonstrating the power of AmpliTube™ inside Logic™ , as well as M-Audio who found AmpliTube™ to be a must have for Ableton’s Live™ users. IK Multimedia was pleased to have guitarist Neil Zaza on site, demonstrating the awesome sounds that come out of AmpliTube™ and educating the crowd on how guitars have come to embrace the digital age. This festival, featuring some of the biggest names in guitar music, was held to raise funds for the Crossroads Center in Antigua, a rehabilitation and education center founded by Eric Clapton. Present were some of the biggest names in guitar music, such as Eric Clapton, of course, Carlos Santana, BB King, Steve Vai, Queen’s Brian May, Jimmy Vaughan and Joe Walsh, among others. AmpliTube's standout feature is the amp and cabinet modeling....it does the guitar thing very well . . . but there are a lot more applications under the hood It's a plug-in whose applications go beyond electric guitars. If there's one lesson I learned from this review, it's to never sign off on a synth bass line before checking it out with AmpliTube. Yow! AmpliTube is not only easy to learn, but easy to use. There's no contest as to which side is the winner...this is a hot plug-in.
Pros:
Cool sounds. Fat, authentic-sounding models. Automatable parameters. Available in multiple formats. Super-easy interface. Useful mic-position modeling. Studio effects are a nice touch. Good selection of presets, including ones for bass. Match mode presents optimized combinations for newbies. Studio and stompbox effects are useful for more than just guitar."

AmpliTube can cover a variety of sounds well, without major gaps n quality. This plug would be great for laying down tracks late at night, it's convenient, and it does sound good -with the ability to reproduce nuances in your playing. The fact that it is automatable is very cool. I like that you can play to a certain amp setting while recording a clean signal -so that you can easily switch between different sounds after recording and tweak to your heart's content (or what the song dictates). While I'm not big on "the one black box does it all" philosophy, you definitely can't go out and buy an amp that is going to give this type of diverse quality in sound for the price. AmpliTube, coupled with a good DI and mic pre, or proper DAW interface can definitely achieve some great results".
