| Exclusive Interview with Luis Resto. Oscar® Winner and Eminem Collaborator talks about SampleTank. On
a rainy day in the Motor City of Detroit, IK Multimedia’s Product Specialist Derrick Floyd was invited to the Shady Records studio, where he
had a unique opportunity to interview Luis Resto. The Eminem collaborator who shared the 2003 Oscar® for “Lose Yourself”, the best-selling single of the decade, Luis Resto gave IK a personal tour of Shady Records. In addition to being a key member of the Shady Records working sound team, Luis Resto has worked with greats like Frank Sinatra and Patti Smith, as well as co-produced tracks for Xhibit, 50-Cent, and many more. IK: How long have you been using SampleTank? LR: 2 1/2 years ago. It has been a part of my workflow ever since SampleTank 1. And now with SampleTank 2 it has really changed the game… IK: How has SampleTank 2 influenced your work? LR: It makes me go to the computer with confidence, because I know there's going to be plenty of street and plenty of grit in the sounds. SampleTank 2 never lets me down. IK: Did any SampleTank sounds make it on the ENIMEM record? LR: Yes...a lot of the guitars and pianos were SampleTank 2. Once again, SampleTank is a workhorse. When I need a sound, I know that I can go to the library and find what I'm looking for. IK: Where do you see softsnyths in the future? LR: It's definitely the way things are going to go - we just have to figure out the connection between hardware and software because the mouse isn't always the effective the way to work. IK: What is in the future for you as an artist/producer...? LR: Continuing what I do collaborating with artist like EMINEM and all the Shady Records artists and using SampleTank 2 every step of the way... Click here to visit the Shady Records website. |
